Mark Twins is a multi-containers build, which joins two 40ft containers side by side to make up a 60 sqm home. The containers were designed, engineered and built at Sonic to lock-up stage, then delivered and assembled at a rural property in Wardell, northern NSW.
The double-container space consists of two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry, an open kitchen and living area with direct access to the covered timber deck that overlooks a horse paddock and a dam. The home was built to be airtight, well insulated with Sonic Steel’s PUR and mechanically ventilated by the Altair 120 HRV, ensuring a thermally efficient and comfortable living environment.
The project aims to provide accommodation for flood affected areas in the northern NSW. This is, however, a long-term solution that promotes healthy living rather than a short-term relief option. The client’s goal is to set a standard in the local community where transportable homes could become a major part of the construction method to provide fast, efficient and healthy housing.
